No. 15 Red Raiders To Open Spring Slate In Hawaii

No. 15 Texas Tech tees off in the Amer Ari Invitational Thursday morning
LUBBOCK, Texas -- The No. 15 Texas Tech men's golf team will head west to begin the 2017 spring schedule at the Amer Ari Invitational, which is set to take place Feb. 2-4, at the Waikiloa Kings Course in Kona, Hawaii.

The tournament's opening round is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. CT, with Friday's second round and Saturday's final round slated for 11:30 a.m. CT starts as well.

The Red Raiders are one of six teams participating ranked in the top 15 of Golfweek's Men's Collegiate Team Rankings. The field includes No. 5 Oklahoma State, No. 6 Southern California, No. 7 Auburn, No. 8 Stanford and No. 12 Texas, among others. According to Golfstat, five of the nation's top-10 players will be in attendance.

Last year at the Amer Ari Invite, the Red Raiders took ninth as a team, highlighted by Hurly Long, who finished the tournament at 4-under, good enough to place 20th as an individual.

Texas Tech comes off a fall slate in which Fredrik Nilehn took home the individual Carmel Cup title and three Red Raiders found their way into the Palmer Cup European top-20.
