Lady Raiders Tee Off Dickson Invitational Monday

Texas Tech opens the two-day Dickson Invitational with an 8 a.m. shotgun start Monday
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head coach JoJo Robertson will travel all six Lady Raiders to Houston this week for the Dickson Invitational which tees off Monday morning at The Woodlands Country Club.

Robertson will use a lineup consisting of juniors Gabby Barker and Lauren Mason as well as sophomore Caralyn Barker and Mami Yamamoto and freshman Sofia Garcia. Fellow sophomore Emma Ballard will play as an individual.

The Lady Raiders, ranked 29th in the latest Golfweek poll, will play 36 holes Monday before wrapping the 18-team tournament with a final 18 holes on Tuesday morning. All three rounds will be played on the 6,392-yard Tournament Course.

Tech will once again face a challenging field as 10 participating teams enter the tournament ranked in the top 40 of the Golfweek poll. Florida State leads the list of participants with a No. 2 national ranking following by No. 15 Kent State, No. 19 Texas A&M, No. 20 Baylor and No. 22 Oklahoma.

The Lady Raiders are the sixth-highest ranked team, leading the likes of No. 33 Purdue, No. 37 SMU and No. 38 UNLV. The rest of the field includes host Houston as well as Tulane, UTSA, Texas State, Tulsa, Houston Baptist, North Texas and St. Thomas.

Tech is coming off a seventh-place performance just under two weeks ago at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. The Lady Raiders concluded the three-day event at 29-over-par, topping a pair of top-25 teams at the time in Arkansas and Purdue.

Gabby Barker, who is ranked 52nd nationally in the Golfweek individual poll, led the Lady Raiders with a seventh-place performance in Puerto Rico, her second top-10 finish of the season. She has ended all six tournaments ranked among the top-25 individuals so far this season.

Garcia trails Barker by just 15 spots in the Golfweek rankings as the freshman has made an impressive debut, averaging 73.6 strokes per round which is second on the team. Barker leads the team with a 72.7 scoring average.

Mason is averaging 74.7 strokes per round over 17 rounds this season to rank third on the team while Yamamoto boasts a 76.0 stroke average. Caralyn Barker and Ballard trai closely behind with 76.6 and 77.1 scoring averages.
