Texas Tech goes 16-under in round two, sits at 34-under for the weekend
KONA, Hawaii -- The No. 15 Texas Tech men's golf team registered its second-straight round of 15-under par or better on Friday in the Amer Ari Invitational at the Waikoloa Kings Course, in Kona, Hawaii.
The Red Raiders recorded a 16-under 272 to follow up Thursday's 18-under 270, which are two of the three lowest team rounds recorded at the tournament this weekend.
However, the third of those rounds was No. 7 USC's 20-under 268 on Friday, which vaulted the Trojans to 35-under par, one shot ahead of the Red Raiders, who stand at 34-under par. Heading into Saturday's final round, it seems like it could be a two-horse race for the team title as the Red Raiders are 18 shots clear of No. 6 Stanford (-16), who occupies third place.
Tech is currently outpacing six teams ranked in the nation's top 25, according to Golfstat.
The top 15 of the individual leaderboard continues to be littered with Red Raiders, including two in the top seven. Fredrik Nilehn continues to card low round after low round in his debut season as a Red Raider, recording a bogey-free 67 to move into a tie for second at 11-under on the weekend. Federico Zucchetti followed up Thursday's 66 with a 69 on Friday, and sits in seventh place at 9-under par.
Joining them in the top 15 are Hannes Ronneblad (-7), who is in a tie for 11th after today's 69, and Ivan Ramirez (-6), who is tied for 13th after a round of 68, featuring five birdies in six holes at one point. Hurly Long's 68 moves him into a tie for 26th (-4), meaning all five Red Raiders who contributed to the team score shot 69 or better on Friday.
Individually, Hayden Springer registered a 67 to move into a tie with Long with 26th at 4-under and Sandy Scott (E) is tied for 51st overall.
Final round action begins tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. CT. Fans can follow via live scoring on golfstat.com, or by following @TTUMensGolf on Twitter.

Another big day for the Red Raiders (-34), who will enter the final round one shot off the lead and double digits clear of third! #WreckEm pic.twitter.com/JuoOSC4snf
