Red Raiders travel to the DFW area on April 1 for Spring Game at The Star
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech will host its Spring Game in front of a capacity crowd on April 1 as tickets to watch the Red Raiders at The Star in Frisco are officially sold out.
Â
Demand by fans to see a battle between the offense and defense pushed Tech to full capacity less than three weeks before the Red Raiders travel to the 12,000-seat Ford Center that is part of the Dallas Cowboys' team headquarters at The Star.
Â
"We can't thank our fans enough for their support of our football program," Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said. "As I've said before, The Star is a perfect setting to showcase our football program and our university. The support of our fan base makes it even more special and I know our coaches and student-athletes can't wait to play in one of the premier athletic facilities in the country."
Â
For fans unable to purchase tickets, Tech will air the Spring Game in its entirety on FOX Sports Southwest Plus as well as the FOX Sports Go app with Brian Jensen calling the action alongside John Harris.
Â
Tech fans are encouraged to arrive to The Star early as pregame festivities begin at 11 a.m. outside the Ford Center entrance. The Red Raiders will arrive to the facility around 1 p.m. that afternoon and will greet fans on their way into the stadium prior to a 3 p.m. start to the Spring Game. Â
Â
Tailgating will be permitted in lots surrounding The Star beginning that morning. Fans without tickets can still join in the festivities at The Star as the game will be shown on the outdoor screen in the Tostitos Championship Plaza outside the stadium.
Â
The Spring Game will be the second of three opportunities to see the Red Raiders in action this spring. Tech opens its spring slate March 25 with an open scrimmage at Grande Communications Stadium in Midland before heading to Frisco the following weekend.
Â
The Red Raiders, who will be the first collegiate program in the country to partner with the Cowboys to host an event at The Star, close the spring with a "Saturday Night Lights" scrimmage inside Jones AT&T Stadium on April 8.
Â
Tech returns from Spring Break to resume spring drills next Tuesday afternoon. It will be the Red Raiders' fifth of 15 practices this spring leading into its 2017 opener on Sept. 2 against Eastern Washington.
