Softball Back on the Road for the Tulsa Invitational

Tech heads to Tulsa for first time since 2004, set for dates with No. 23 Cal, Montana, Wichita State and host Tulsa.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech softball takes to the road once again as it heads to the Tulsa Invitational for five games March 10-12 at Collins Family Softball Complex in Tulsa, Okla.

The Red Raiders, who started the season with three tournaments away from home before hosting the Texas Tech Invitational last weekend, begin play in Tulsa Friday. Tech (12-9, 0-0) takes on Montana (7-12, 0-0) at 10:30 a.m., before battling Wichita State (11-7, 0-0) at 3 p.m.

Tech is scheduled for two more games Saturday with the potential for schedule adjustments due to rain forecasted during the day. The Red Raiders will meet No. 23 California (15-3, 0-0) at 11:15 a.m., and Tulsa (11-9, 0-0) at 3:45 p.m.

Tech will close the event Sunday with a second matchup against Montana, slated for 11 a.m.

LEADING OFF
- The Red Raiders picked up their first road win of 2017, defeating Abilene Christian 2-1 Tuesday in Abilene.
- This weekend marks Tech's first trip to Tulsa since 2004.
- With the trip to Tulsa, the Red Raiders embark on their fourth road tournament in the first five weeks of 2017.Â
- The Red Raiders have taken their last two games against Cal, who they'll play Saturday morning, including a 2-0 win over the No. 22 Golden Bears last season.
- Tech and Wichita State met last weekend at the Texas Tech Invitational with the Shockers pulling out a 10-7 win.
- The Red Raiders are 1-3 this season against ranked teams.
- Texas Tech freshman outfielder Raina O'Neal is one of four freshmen nationally with six or more home runs. Her six home runs is tied for the most in the Big 12.
- Sophomore infielder Jessica Hartwell is tied for the lead in the Big 12 in doubles with eight. She is third in the conference in RBI with 19.
- Senior catcher Susan Welborn returned from injury this past weekend at the Texas Tech Invitational and hit three home runs, including one in her first at bat of the season.
- Freshman RHP Kassidy Scott leads the pitching staff in ERA, appearances and wins. She also hit the first walk-off home run of her career on March 4 against UTEP.
