Red Raiders Set For Nationals

Texas Tech sends eight events to compete at this year’s NCAA Indoor Championships.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech will look to reach new highs and bring home some championship titles at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 10-11 in College Station, Texas.
The two day event will take place Friday and Saturday kicking off both days at noon with the men's and women's multi events. Charles Brown will start the competition for Texas Tech on Friday at 5:30 p.m. with the men's long jump.
For both days live results will be available on FlashResults.com as well as a live stream on ESPN3 or WatchESPN.com and the WatchESPN app.
The Red Raiders have captured 16 NCAA titles in the program's 42 year history. Qualifying Red Raiders will be facing the best Division I competition across the United States in hopes to bring home their event championship crowns.

THRICE AS NICE
Sophomore jumper Charles Brown will hit three events at this year's NCAA Indoor Championships. Brown is only the third athlete in NCAA history to qualify in all three jumping events and the first in Big 12 and Texas Tech history. The Wichita Falls native brought home the Mountain Region Track Athlete of the Year award on Monday, March 6th. Brown also secured the Big 12 long jump crown in Ames, Iowa on February 24th with his qualifying mark of 7.89m/25-10.75. Brown was All-Big 12 in three events at the indoor championship scoring a total of 18 of Tech's 99.5 points and now looks to make his mark on the Nationals stage.

Charles Brown - HJ: 2.20m/7-2.50 - 14th TJ: 16.05m/52-8.00 -12th LJ: 7.89m/25-10.75 - 6th
Brown will be competing in the long jump at 5:30 p.m. on Friday followed by the high jump and triple jump at 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. respectively on Saturday.

Trey Culver - 2.23m/7-3.75 - 5th
Trey Culver will be returning to the NCAA Indoor Championships with his qualifying 2.23m/7-3.75 bar. This mark secured him the high jump title of National Champion in last year's competition in Birmingham, Alabama. This season Culver has secured two first-place and two second-place finishes. Culver will compete at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Andrew Hudson - 20.80 - 16th
Hudson was a last minute addition to the Texas Tech lineup, coming into the No. 16 spot after two late scratches. Hudson has proven his consistency throughout the season after hitting his 20.80 mark early on in Fayetteville at the Arkansas Invitational. Hudson holds the No. 2 all-time record in Texas Tech indoor history in the 200m. His preliminary 200-meter heat will begin tomorrow at 7:45 p.m.

Viershanie Latham- 13.33m/43-8.75 - 13th
Senior jumper Viershanie Latham will be competing in the women's triple jump at Nationals for the second time in her collegiate career. Last year Latham was a member of the USTFCCCA All-American second team. The triple jump standout has claimed seven of the top-10 spots in the Texas Tech indoor record book, one of which being the All-Time record. Latham will begin the triple jump at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Zarriea Willis - 1.85m/6-0.75 - 11th
Willis has pushed to perform at each of her performances this season with four first place finishes and one second place finish. Willis is the 2017 Indoor Big 12 Champion in high jump making her the second in Texas Tech history. Willis broke a 10 year old school record at her 1.85m/6-0.75 bar. Willis has also made five additions to the Texas Tech indoor record book. She will start off competition on the girl's side at 6 p.m. on Friday.

4X400 Relay - 3:05.49 - 9th
The men's relay currently has a No. 5 world ranking with their 3:05.49 time. This mark also allows them to hold the No. 3 spot in Texas Tech indoor records. Travelling for the men's 4x400 relay is Steven Champlin, Kyle Collins, Vincent Crisp, Andrew Hudson and C.J. Jones. The men's relay will wrap up the meet on Saturday slated to begin at 6:45 p.m.

Next up Texas Tech will head to San Antonio, Texas to start off the outdoor season at the UTSA Invitational on March 17th and 18th.
