LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball travels to Dallas to wrap up its 2017 spring schedule at the Lone Star Classic College Showcase on Saturday, April 15, at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.
The Red Raiders will compete in three matches at the tournament, starting with a 9:30 a.m. matchup against Texas on court one. Tech then moves to court two, where it will take on Oklahoma at 11:00 a.m., before concluding play with TCU at 1 p.m.
Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for ages 6-18 or 65+, while children five years old and under will receive free admission. For information on how you can attend, visit here.
The tournament will be Texas Tech's third event of the spring. The Red Raiders hosted the Texas Tech Spring Tournament March 25, defeating UT Permian Basin (25-13, 30-28), Abilene Christian (25-15, 25-20) and Cisco College (25-12, 25-11) before splitting sets with Angelo State (23-25, 25-10). Tech later defeated Wayland Baptist 5-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-13, 25-23, 15-9) on April 6 at United Supermarkets Arena.
Saturday's tournament will wrap up the team's second spring under head coach Tony Graystone. Texas Tech returns 13 student-athletes from last year's squad, including junior libero Reyn Akiu, who posted the school's second-highest single-season dig total last fall on her way to All-Big 12 Second Team honors. The squad also welcomed in midterm transfer Missy Owens, who hails from Long Beach State where she ranked second in the Big West in 2016 averaging 10.56 assists per set.
