Red Raiders Conclude California Outing

Texas Tech track & field ends their showing in California with two new top-10 school marks
WALNUT, Calif. – The Red Raiders wrapped up their competition in California this evening with many impressive personal-records to show off.
Jocelyn Caro claimed 11th in the elite 10,000-meter run, clocking a time of 34:08.57.
This time beats Caro's previous personal record 34:46.85 run from last year's Mt. SAC Relays.
Junior Miguel Bautista posted a 29:55.77 10,000-meter race, close to a two-minute improvement from his last 10k performance at the Mountain Region Cross Country Championships in 2015.
This time allows Bautista the No. 10 Texas Tech all-time record spot, knocking off Len Fedore's 30:00.4 run from 1987.
Benard Keter made his outdoor debut in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, pacing a fifth-place 8:43.05 run. This time puts Keter eighth in Texas Tech 3,000-meter steeplechase history.
Three big personal-best improvements took place nearby at Azusa Pacific University's Bryan Clay Invitational.
Shea Whatley improved from a 5,000-meter time of 15:30.45 to 14:53.58, over a thirty-second improvement.
The 3,000-meter steeplechase wrangled new personal best times of 9:29.46 and 10:58.13 from Clark Blunt and Jasmine Torres.
Blunt finished the race claiming the No. 1 spot, while Torres claimed seventh in the women's section.
The Red Raiders will start the Horned Frog Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas, tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
