Tennis Programs Capture 12 Academic All-Big 12 Honors

Texas Tech tennis will travel to the Big 12 Championships this weekend in Norman.
IRVING, Texas – The Texas Tech men's and women's tennis teams had 12 players tuck away Academic All-Big 12 honors announced Tuesday by the conference office.
Texas Tech had 11 of its 12 selections named to the first team which consists of student-athletes who have maintained a 3.20 GPA or better.
On the men's side, Bjorn Thomson was the only player in the Big 12 to compile a 4.0 GPA. The five total honorees for the Red Raiders are a program single-season record on the Academic All-Big 12 Team.
The Lady Raiders paced the conference with seven overall selections which also matched a program single-season mark with the 2013 team.
Jolan Cailleau, a finance major, is the fifth player in program history to capture Academic All-Big 12 First-Team accolades on three occasions over his career. He joins Michael Innerebner (2003-04-05), Vitor Manzini (2011-12-13), Bojan Szumanski (2005-07-08) and Francisco Zambon (2013-14-15).
Lynn Kiro, a sports management major, joins Samantha Adams (2012-13-14), Kendall Brooks (2002-03-04), Kelsey Garland (2009-10-11), Katja Kovacic (2004-05-06), Kenna Kilgo (2013-14-15), Misty Meyer (1997-98-99), Caroline Starck (2011-12-13) and Samantha van der Drift (2007-08-09) as the only Lady Raiders to secure a trio of Academic All-Big 12 First-Team picks during their careers.
Federici, Sendegeya and Talaba are a two-time recipients with Academic All-Big 12 First-Team accolades in back-to-back seasons.
Texas Tech will travel to the Big 12 Championships this weekend held at the Headington Family Tennis Center on the University of Oklahoma campus.
The Red Raiders meet No. 4 Baylor during Thursday's opening round at 10 a.m. CT, while the Lady Raiders take on either Kansas State or Iowa State in Friday's quarterfinal round at 1 p.m. CT. Both matches will have live video provided by FloTennis, a subscription-based stream.
