Arsic, Guglieri receive All-Big 12 accolades

LUBBOCK, Texas – Junior Niksa Arsic and sophomore Thiago Guglieri earned All-Big 12 accolades for the first time in their careers as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon. Arsic earned All-Big 12 First Team Singles, while the duo of Arsic and Guglieri were named an All-Big 12 First Team Doubles pair.
In dual singles, Arsic ties for the team lead with 13 wins on the season, all of those coming at the top of the lineup. Arsic is 17-8 in overall singles and added three singles victories during conference play. He has key wins over Ofek Shimanov (Arizona State), Nicolas Kobelt (Oklahoma State), Adam Chodur (BYU) and No. 79-ranked Lucca Liu (UCSB). Arsic also took No. 4-ranked and Co-Big 12 Player of the Year, Jay Friend of Arizona, to three sets, while almost forcing a third set over Co-Big 12 Player of the Year and No. 7 Devin Badenhorst (Baylor) with a 5-2 second set score before the match went unfinished.
As a duo, Arsic and Guglieri lead all Red Raider pairs with a 20-11 overall record and an 11-7 dual doubles record. Picking up four doubles wins during conference play, they also lead the team with three ranked doubles victories. Arsic and Guglieri have earned key wins over Alexandru Chirita/Zsombor Velcz (Baylor), Wissam Abderrahman/Mehdi Benchakroun (UCF), No. 46 Samuel Rovai/Ryomo Mishiro (Southern Miss), No. 75 Petro Kuzmenok/Santiago Navarro (Rice) and No. 80 Enrique Pena/Andreas Scott (North Florida).
