Women’s Tennis Headed to Big 12 Championship Match

Lady Raiders down No. 24 Texas to advance to championship match for second straight season
NORMAN, Okla. – It came down to the final two courts of the match, but the No. 7 Texas Tech Women's Tennis team claimed a 4-2 victory over No. 24 Texas to advance to the Big 12 Championship match for the second straight year.
Due to playing indoors, the Lady Raiders (23-4) and Texas (13-8) opened the match with singles play.
The Longhorns took a 2-0 lead with two-set wins on courts two and three.
No. 9 Gabriela Talaba gave the Lady Raiders their first point of the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win over No. 42 Bianca Turati on court one.
Junior Sabrina Federici tied the match at 2-2 as she defeated Anna Turati, 6-4, 6-0, on court four.
It came down to the third set on courts five and six.
Junior Katelyn Jackson battled back after dropping the first set, 6-4, to take the match in three (4-6, 6-3, 6-2) over Dani Wagland. Junior Sarah Dvorak had a one-set lead on Texas' Daniella Roldan before dropping a 6-3 set two. Dvorak clinched the match for the Lady Raiders with a 6-3 win in the third set.

The Lady Raiders will face the winner of Oklahoma State/Baylor in the championship match tomorrow at 4 p.m. The match will be broadcasted on FOX Sports Southwest.
