The Red Raiders begin their two-meet weekend this afternoon at 2:30 p.m. with the men’s pole vault.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech track and field is set to start their split-meet weekend in Canyon, Texas, and Tempe, Arizona, this afternoon at the West Texas A&M Classic & Multis and the Sun Angel Classic.
The Sun Angel Classic will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with the men's pole vault. The WT Classic & Multis is slated to start the multi-events at 3 p.m.

#JUMPSQUAD
Charles Brown, Viershanie Latham, Trey Culver and Zarriea Willis led the jumps front last weekend at Texas Relays. Brown, Culver and Willis all took first place finishes while Latham was not far behind, finishing second in the women's triple jump. Texas Tech currently claims four conference leading jumps marks, two of which lead nationally. The number one conference spots in high jump (2.24m/7-4.25) and long jump (8.14m/26-8.50) on the men's side are claimed by Culver and Brown. Triple jump (13.46m/44-2) and high jump (1.80m/5-10.75) are dominated by Latham and Willis on the women's side. Brown and Culver also have world-ranked marks sitting at third and fifth respectively.

RELAYS AT RELAYS
The 4x100 and 4x400 relays yielded impressive results on both the men's and women's side last weekend at Texas Relays. The men's mile relay notched a new No. 5 Texas Tech outdoor record time of 3:03.28 to end the meet. Kyle Collins, Steven Champlin, Charles Jones and Vincent Crisp claimed third overall. This relay team also holds a No. 2 conference spot, No. 4 national spot and No. 6 world spot. Maygen Smith, Marika Brown, Sara Limp and Mackenzie Frank ran in the 4x400 invitational heat claiming third-place with their time of 3:35.80. The 4x100 relays pushed for strong times in the final round clocking 39.76 and 44.94 runs. The men's fourth-place finishing relay was composed of Trevin Chambers, Steven Champlin, Kyle Collins and Andrew Hudson. I'Shunique Hamilton, Marika Brown, Tiffani Johnson and Sara Limp headed the women's relay for eighth place.

NO. 11 RANKING
The men's team snagged the No. 11 spot in week one's USTFCCCA computer rankings. This is an upward movement from the preseason rankings, owed to top-ranking marks made at Texas Relays. The men left Austin, Texas, with three world-ranked marks, two of which are top-five. The men's 4x400 clocked a 3:03.28 to sit them sixth in the world, fourth in the nation and second in conference. Trey Culver clinched another high jump title at 2.24m/7-4.25 putting him fifth in the world and first in the NCAA. A long jump mark of 8.14m/26-8.50 allowed Charles Brown a No. 3 world ranking as well as a nation leading position.

BIG 12 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Charles Brown garnered Texas Tech's second Big 12 Track & Field Athlete of the Week award this outdoor season for his standout performance at Texas Relays. Brown hit a long jump mark of 8.14m/26-8.50 ranking him No. 3 in the world. This jump by Brown also leads the nation by over half a foot. Brown's mark serves not only as a second-place outdoor record for Texas Tech, but as his lifetime-best jump.
