Men's Track & Field Matches Highest Ranking in School History

Men move up in the USTFCCCA rankings for the sixth consecutive week.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's track & field team is ranked No. 3 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) computer rankings.
This spot ties the highest ranking ever held by the Texas Tech track & field men's team.
"I'm really proud that we've been able to move up in the polls," Head Coach Wes Kittley said. "It's fun for our team and they've worked hard to get to this spot, we just need to keep working hard as we get closer conference."
Steven Champlin and Kyle Collins claimed No. 7 and No. 8 world ranked spots for their 400-meter performances at the Red Raider Shootout this past weekend.
Their times of 45.01 and 45.06, officially entered as 45.12 and 45.17 after the altitude conversion, moved them to No. 4 and No. 5 on the national qualifying list.
Drew McMichael's showing in the men's pole vault was improved upon, moving to a new lifetime-best bar of 5.25m/17-2.75.
A moderately-windy 10.24 (converted to 10.27 with altitude) time in the 100-meter dash notched a new personal-best for Trevin Chambers.
The Red Raiders will remain home this weekend, as they host the Masked Rider open on Saturday, May 6.
