Hartwell Collects 2017 NFCA All-Region Honor

The versatile sophomore led the squad in hits and RBI while tallying 11 home runs and 12 doubles in 2017.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Sophomore Jessica Hartwell of the Texas Tech softball team was named to the National Fast-Pitch Coaches Association All-Region third team announced Thursday by the NFCA office.

This is the eighth-straight season where a Red Raider has earned all-region honors and the first NFCA award for the Galt, Calif., native.

Hartwell, who garnered Big 12 Player of the Week recognition earlier this month, had a breakout season for the Red Raiders becoming the only Big 12 player to record double-digit home runs (11) and 12 or more doubles.

Additionally, she led the squad in hits, RBI, slugging percentage and was second on the team with a .305 batting average and 11 stolen bases on the year while posting a .966 fielding percentage splitting time between first and third base.

Tech concluded the year with a 1-0 shutout win over Iowa State in the fifth-place game at the Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City.
