Player's Blog: Why not us?

Freshman year has had many ups and downs, but way more ups than downs. They say freshman year is one of the hardest years to get adjusted, and let me tell you, they were not kidding. Moving into the dorms on August 21, several thoughts drifted in my mind. This is the start of something that could potentially jumpstart me for the rest of my life. All the nerves, butterflies, and jitters soon went away as I began to play and experience what it is like to be a Texas Tech Red Raider.
Â
Freshman year has been very memorable, getting to experience what it is like playing with this group of girls will always be something I cherish deeply. In John 13 verse 7, it states "You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand." This verse was very prevalent as I went throughout my freshman year. God tested me through a lot of adversity and trials through these past nine months.
Â
However, this season is not over yet. As we continue to move along in the journey, we will be traveling to my home state, Oklahoma, for the Big 12 Softball Championship. Throughout this week, preparation will be unlike any other. This weekend is a chance to make a name for ourselves and show everyone what Red Raider Softball is made of. This team is relentless in the pursuit and continues to press on, no matter the circumstance at hand. This week is a chance for us 21 girls to make a statement and go all in.
Â
The season of 2017 has been unforgettable and I couldn't have made it through without my Lord and Savior, my coaches, and my teammates. Let's finish what we started and continue to be gritty in our pursuit at the Big 12 tournament. Only six teams get the opportunity to go, and only one team will walk away with the title, so why not us?
