Nilehn & Ronneblad Tee Off At Arnold Palmer Cup

Tech has two representatives in this year’s event
ATLANTA, Ga. – Texas Tech men's golfers Hannes Ronneblad and Fredrik Nilehn have teed off at the Arnold Palmer Cup on Friday morning, representing Team Europe at the Atlanta Athletic Club, in Atlanta, Ga.
To begin the three-day event, Ronneblad and Nilehn (Team Europe) are paired up against Doug Ghim (Texas) and Sean Crocker (USC) from Team USA for 18 holes of match play. Saturday's and Sunday's rounds will feature one-on-one match play, all counting toward an overall team score. Each win counts as one point toward the team score.
Texas Tech is one of two schools to have two players in the field (Oklahoma State), and the only school to have two players finish in the top six of either the U.S. or Europe final rankings. This marks the second time in the last three years Tech has been represented at the event, after Clement Sordet qualified in 2015.
The Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking automatically qualifies the top six players for both sides and uses Golfstat's NCAA Player Ranking as a base. The ranking awards bonus points for wins and high finishes, penalty for poor finishes, and contains a strength of schedule component.
The remaining four players for the United States were selected using three committee picks and one coaches pick. One of the U.S. committee picks had to be a non-Division I golfer. The final four spots on Team Europe consisted of the champion of The R&A Foundation Scholars Tournament, held April 3-4, two committee picks and one coaches pick.
Golfstat is handling live scoring of all three rounds.
