Justin Gray will suit up for Team Virgin Islands at the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup Championships.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech senior guard Justin Gray was selected to play for the Virgin Islands National Team in the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) AmeriCup Championships which begins over the weekend in Bahia Blanca, Argentina.
The Virgin Islands will begin Group B pool play Sunday versus Canada followed by contests against Venezuela and host Argentina on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. All three games will carried live on FIBA's You Tube channel at www.youtube.com/FIBA.
Following the completion of pool play, the top team from each group along with Argentina will advance to the semifinal round which starts on Saturday, September 2.
Gray will get the opportunity to play with his older brother, Johnathan, who was a member of Cornell's 2010 NCAA Sweet 16 squad. He represented the Virgin Islands at the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championships where he averaged 7.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. He tallied tournament-bests 11 points and grabbed six rebounds versus Brazil.
