Tech Volleyball Announces Six-Member 2019 Signing Class

Graystone adds five in-state prospects, including two early enrollees in balanced class.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Head coach Tony Graystone and the Texas Tech volleyball coaching staff announced Thursday the six student-athletes who have signed to join the program during the 2018-19 signing period.

Five of the six signees hail from the state of Texas with three set to play at the net and three on the back line. To date, 14-of-16 student-athletes Graystone has signed to Tech are from the Lone Star State.

"There's going to be three front-row and three back-row players," Graystone said. "There is a lot of really good ball control and great personalities in this group. We're going to have a lot of fun getting them into the gym. They like to train, they're really competitive and I think they're going to make their mark on our program right away."

For the third straight year, Graystone has landed an AVCA Under Armour All-American as defensive specialist Audrey Tuttle received honorable mention honors, joining current sophomore Emerson Solano and freshman Haley Killinger, who received the honor the last two years.

"I think you will see several of them find a way on the court," Graystone said of the class's impact next season. "They're just too talented not to. With the way the roster will be turning over, I think there will be opportunity there."

Cadi Boyer will graduate early and enroll this spring at Texas Tech after starring three years at Hutto High School in the Austin area. As a senior, she led the Hippos to the district and area titles after going 38-10 and 12-0 in district play and advancing to the Regional Semifinals. She was tabbed All-District 19-5A Second Team after leading Hutto to an Area Championship as a junior. As a sophomore, she received All-District 19-5A Honorable Mention honors and was picked as a PrepVolleyball Sophomore 79 Special Mention, and the No. 1 Blocker in the Nation by MaxPreps. A dual-sport athlete, she also high jumped in high school, placing fourth at the Area meet as a freshman. The daughter of Richard and Justine, Cadi is also gifted musically as she plays bassoon and earned the 2017 Solo and Ensemble Superior Rating.

Lauren Dodson and twin sister Lindsey come to Texas Tech after successful careers at S.H. Rider High School in Wichita Falls. A three-year letterwinner for the Lady Raiders, the setter/defensive specialist was named the 2017 Setter of the Year for District 4-5A. She has twice received first team all-district, doing so a sophomore and again most recently as a senior. In 2018, Lauren helped Rider to district and area titles, finishing 34-8 overall and 8-0 in district with a trip to the Regional Quarterfinals. She was also a member of the club team that reached the finals of the 2018 USAV Girls' 18s Junior National Championships. She and her sister are Texas Tech legacies as their parents Cody and Lori both went to school in Lubbock. Lauren excels also excels in the classroom as she was named Academic All-State.

Lindsey Dodson and twin sister Lauren come to Texas Tech after successful careers at S.H. Rider High School in Wichita Falls. A three-year letterwinner for the Lady Raiders, the defensive specialist was named 2018 District 4-5A Defensive Player of the Year after her senior season after helping Rider to district and area titles, a 34-8 record and an 8-0 district mark that culminated in a trip to the Regional Quarterfinals. Her junior and sophomore seasons saw her garner All-District 4-5A Honorable Mention. She was a team captain for her club team that reached the finals of the 2018 USAV Girls' 18s Junior National Championships. She and her sister are Texas Tech legacies as their parents Cody and Lori both went to school in Lubbock. Lindsey excels also excels in the classroom as she was named Academic All-State.

Caitlin Dugan is the lone out-of-state prospect in the signing class, coming to Texas Tech from the state of Arizona. Dugan's Campo Verde squad went 26-17 this season, winning their section with a 10-0 mark and earning the No. 3 seed in the AIA State Championships, where they fell in the semifinal round. She was named Region Co-Player of the Year in 2017 along with 5A All-Conference Second Team after taking home all-conference first team accolades in 2016. The daughter of Bill and Lindsay, she has a sister who played collegiate volleyball at South Mountain Community College and later at Montana State. Caitlin knows American Sign Language and taught her high school team how to sign the National Anthem for every match.

Kylie Trefflich was a three-year letterwinner at Canyon High School in New Braunfels, Texas, the same school as current freshman and two-time Big 12 Rookie of the Week Brooke Kanas. As a senior, Trefflich was named First Team All-District 27-6A, helping the Unicorns reach the Regional Quarterfinal of the UIL 6A State Tournament and finish with an impressive 36-13 with a 12-2 district mark. Teamed with Kanas her junior season, she earned second team all-district honors at Canyon a year after transferring from Calallen where she was the 30-5A District Newcomer of the Year as a freshman. Kylie also takes pride in her academic work, earning Academic All-District each of the last three years.

She is the program's third AVCA Under Armour All-American in the last three years as she was named honorable mention for 2018. She was a member of the GHVCA Fab 50 team (2017, 2018), the AVCA All-American Phenom List (2015-17) and the 2017 PrepVolleyball.com All-America Defensive Dandies Second Team. She entered her senior year Preseason All-State by Vype and TAVC and was most recently named the District 23-6A Defensive Player of the Year as well as All-District First Team for the fourth straight year. Her George Ranch Longhorns won the area and district titles while going 39-9 this season with an 11-1 district record and a trip to the Regional Semifinal. Audrey is a member of several national honor societies and is represented in the Top 2% of her high school class.
