Lady Raiders Suffer Tough Loss to No. 6 Georgia Tech

Texas Tech battled back from being down 3-1
LUBBOCK, Texas – It all came down to the third set of the final match, but Texas Tech couldn't fight off Georgia Tech as the Lady Raiders fell, 4-3, on Sunday.

Georgia Tech (11-3) opened the match with two doubles wins to clinch the first point of the game over the Lady Raiders (10-3).

Senior Gabriela Talaba gave Tech the first point of the match with her 6-3, 6-3 win on court one. Felicity Maltby fell to No. 25 Paige Hourigan (6-3, 6-4) in straight sets to put the Jackets back in the lead.

Another win on court three gave Georgia Tech a 3-1 lead as the final two matches started play.

Senior Sarah Dvorak battled back after being down a set to capture a win over Nami Otsuka (6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 6-4) to make it 3-2 Georgia Tech.

Alex Valenstein's 7-5, 6-3 victory on court five tied the match, 3-3, leaving it up to Lana Rush and Victoria Flores.

Rush fell 7-5 in the first set and battled back to a 6-3 win in the second set, tying the match. But Flores didn't let up and took the match with a 6-3 win in the final set.

UP NEXT
The Lady Raiders open Big 12 play next weekend as they host Kansas on Friday at 5 p.m. and Kansas State on Sunday at noon.
