
Red Raiders Fall in Game Two at No. 3 Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. – Texas Tech softball fell in the second game of its weekend series at No. 3 Oklahoma, 8-0 (5), on Saturday at Marita Hynes Field.

The Red Raiders (20-12, 0-2) move to 2-2 in Big 12-opening series under head coach Adrian Gregory. The Sooners (27-2, 2-0) garnered their 26th straight Big 12 series win, their 18th victory in a row and 16th straight home win.

After a tough start to Friday's conference opener, Tech got off to a solid start on Saturday, trailing just 1-0 after two innings and tagging three hits through three frames.
The defending national champions, however, pulled away with four in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth to capture the run-rule win.

Junior Kiana Workman, senior Kaylee Strickland and freshman Kelcy Leach recorded hits for the Red Raiders on the afternoon. Strickland has hit safely in both games this weekend at the No. 9 position in the lineup.

OU's Mariah Lopez (8-0) got the win, throwing four innings before senior Paige Lowary came in to finish the game and hand Tech its second shutout loss of the season.

Tech went with freshman Erin Edmoundson (13-5) in the circle, one of five Red Raider freshmen in the starting lineup. She tossed 3.1 innings, surrendering a season-high six earned runs on seven hits. Senior Cheyene Powell got her second relief appearance of the series and gave up a run on two hits in 1.1 innings of action.

Sooners Sydney Romero, Shay Knighten and Caleigh Clifton all tallied multi-hit games. Freshman Jocelyn Alo went deep for the second time this weekend to finish with two RBI, while Clifton also registered a pair of RBI.
