Welcome Back
Â
If you haven't noticed yet, our game schedule for this weekend looks a liiiitle different than normal. We begin our series against OSU on Thursday night at 6pm, followed by a Friday game at 4pm, then the last game of the series will be played on Saturday at 12pm.Â
Â
You might be thinking, why would they do such a thing? Well, that is due to a very special day on Sunday called Easter! Easter Sunday means the world to so many people. It sets aside a day to remember and celebrate what was done for us so many years ago. As I reflect on our season this far, the strides that we have made and the things that will come from this year, I can see so many things in our team that truly reflect what Easter is all about.
Â
First, love. This year, we have taken the time to really change what our team is all about. Great teams have great cultures and heading into this year, it was very important to each one of us that our team have solid roots. Since then, we have created a firm foundation on the things in life that are secure and unwavering. Love plays a solid role in what we wanted our culture to stand on. A team that loves deeply is a team that not only looks out for the best interest of those around them, but one who strives for excellence, makes no excuses, and gives nothing short of everything they have. Love is making sure that you bring the best version of yourself every single day. Love is being determined to accomplish your role to the absolute best of your ability.
Â
The second is sacrifice. Love is sacrifice. What makes Texas Tech softball so great and so distinct is that there are a trillion people around making sacrifices that often go unnoticed, all to make sure that our team is functioning in the best way possible. Sacrifice is so vital to our group because not only is it intertwined within great programs, but it builds great people in the progress.Â
Â
The last is patience. Love is patient. Our theme this year (a story from Joshua 6) has everything to do with trust, patience, obedience, and persistence. You could look at our past weekend and see it as a rough start to conference. That what we are doing isn't working and we should try something new. But, when we look at what we are learning through our theme, it is actually the exact opposite. Our theme reminds us to trust and have faith in the process. Always. Through times where you see results, and especially through times where you don't. In times that are trying, depleting and literally knock you off your feet as well as times where you might feel like you aren't making progress. Patience is not growing weary in doing well, and knowing that in due season, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.Â
Â
So here we are, anticipating this weekend and everything that it will bring. Together. Trusting the work we have put in up until this point and fighting hard, passionately and with intention. Putting our hearts on the line for what we know we deserve. And above all else honoring what Easter is and everything it means to us. We're home, baby, and we'll see you soon Oklahoma State.Â
