Long Leads No. 10 Tech On Day One In Vegas

Hurly Long Is tied for fifth through 18 holes
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Senior Hurly Long fired a 69 to lead the No. 10 Texas Tech men's golf team in round one of the Southern Highlands Collegiate on Monday, in Las Vegas.
Long and fellow senior Fredrik Nilehn (-1) were the two Red Raiders to go under-par on Monday, as Tech (+6) sits in 11th place, but only 12 shots back of the lead.
Long started the day with a bogey on the par-4 first hole, but followed that up with three birdies over the next six holes. He bogeyed the 11th, but once again responded with birdies on 16 and 18 to close the day at 3-under. He is tied for fifth on the individual leaderboard.
Nilehn was +2 for the majority of the round, but also had a late flurry, birdieing 14, 16 and 18 to get into the red to finish the day tied for 15th, individually.
Adam Blomme and Ivan Ramirez each shot 77 (+5) and are tied for 54th, and Sandy Scott (+9) is tied for 77th.
