Brown earns Bronze on Day One of Nationals

Charles Brown and Zarriea Willis both claim first team All-America honors on day one of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Red Raiders ended day one of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships with two first team All-Americans, four second team honors and three finals qualifying marks.
Charles Brown had a personal-best long jump performance to grab his third-place finish. Brown soared a distance of 8.12m/26-7.75 on his sixth attempt of the day, nailing down the second furthest jump in Texas Tech indoor history. Brown improved on his qualifying mark by three-and-a-half inches to gather this impressive finish.
Brown will compete again tomorrow in the men's triple jump competition, taking place at 5 p.m.
Lone female competitor Zarriea Willis was the second first-team member today, snagging a fourth-place finish in the women's high jump competition. Willis cleared her first three bars with ease, ending with a final height of 1.84m/6-0.50. This clearance notches a new all-time mark for Willis, allowing her sixth record book entry this year alone.
Divine Oduduru placed himself in the 60-meter and 200-meter finals from his preliminary races this evening. Oduduru had the second-fastest preliminary time in the 200m at 20.47, a No. 3 all-time Texas Tech mark. In the 60m he snagged a seventh-place 6.64 race, a No. 4 all-time mark. Oduduru's finals for these events will take place tomorrow at 4:30 and 5:50 p.m. Andrew Hudson will join Oduduru in the 200m finals with his 20.79 preliminary run.
Brandon Bray led the way in the men's pole vault, matching his personal-best and No. 2 all-time mark of 5.50m/18-0.50 to take a ninth-place finish. Drew McMichael also collected second team All-America honors, clearing a best of 5.30m/17-4.25.
Junior Vincent Crisp was the last individual entry competitor today in the 800m run, taking his second team honors with a 1:50.55 preliminary race.
Tomorrow, the Red Raiders will pick back up at 3:30 p.m. with Trey Culver in the men's high jump, followed by the 60m dash, triple jump, 200m dash and 4x400-meter relay.
