Gabriela Talaba Named Big 12 Player of the Week

Senior named player of the week after regular season finale

IRVING, Texas – Senior Gabriela Talaba was named the Big 12 Player of the Week after closing out the conference regular season with a singles win at West Virginia.

"We are excited to see Gabbi end Big 12 play on a high note," Head Coach Todd Petty said. "This should give her some good confidence heading into tournament play."

On Friday, Talaba gave the Lady Raiders a quick 2-0 advantage ad she downed West Virginia's Christina Jordan 6-1, 6-3. Talaba was ahead 6-0, 3-2 over Iowa State's Maty Cancini on Sunday before Felicity Maltby clinched the match for the Lady Raiders.

Talaba and Maltby led 5-1 in both doubles matches this weekend before they were suspended due to wins on courts one and three.

This is Talaba's first Big 12 Player of the Week honor this season and fifth of her career.
