Texas Tech finishes with 11 event winners at WTAMU meet
CANYON, Texas – Half of the Texas Tech Track & Field team had a great showing at the West Texas A&M Classic and Multi this weekend.

The women's team took second place with five event winners, 14 top three finishers and 11 individual PRs. The men's team finished third in team standings with six event winners, 11 top three finishers and five individual PRs.

"I'm very proud how we competed in really tough weather conditions at West Texas A&M," Head Coach Wes Kittley said.

Dorleta Armendariz-Lasa captured the women's hammer throw win with her personal best throw of 56.20m (184-4), crushing her previous best by nine feet.

The Red Raiders swept the podium in the 800m and 1500m on the women's side. Lauren Offerman posted a personal best time of 4:42.74 in the 1500m run to finish on top of the leaderboard.

In the women's pole vault, freshman Chloe Wall won the event after clearing 3.85m (12-7.5) ahead of senior Tayler Jameson who placed second with her season best mark of 3.75m (12-3.5)

The Red Raiders went 1-2 in the men's 400m dash and the 3000m steeplechase. Clark Blunt captured first place in the 3000m steeplechase with a season best time of 9:53.50.

Tech men took the top spot in the 800m, 5000m, 400m hurdles and pole vault. Matt Munoz won the 800m with a personal best time of 1:56.96.
