Another outdoor record falls at Michael Johnson Invitational
WACO, Texas – Records fall as the Texas Tech Track & Field teams concluded the 2018 Michael Johnson Invitational on Saturday evening.
Â
After a 45-minute lightning delay, the meet was underway and the Red Raiders didn't let that affect them.
Â
Sophomore Divine Oduduru wrote his name into the Texas Tech record books after running a personal best time of 10.10 in the men's 100m invitational, breaking a 14-year-old record. The previous record was set by Tyree Gailes when he ran a 10.11 at the 2004 Outdoor National Championships. His time ranks sixth in the country and 10th in the world.
Â
"I am really proud of Divine and how he set his race up," Head Coach Wes Kittley said. "I think he had the best start I have seen out of him since he arrived on campus. It was great to see him get a wind-legal 100-meter mark!"
Â
The men's 4x400m relay team of Oduduru, CJ Jones, Sean Hooper and Vincent Crisp took second in the event with a stadium record time of 3:02.82. The time ranks fifth all-time in school history, fourth in the West Region and seventh in the world.
Â
