June 21, 2018 | Track and Field
LUBBOCK, Texas – In the second week of post-NCAA action, Texas Tech will send athletes to the USATF Outdoor Championships while one Red Raider, jumper Odaine Lewis, will compete at the Jamaican Senior National Championships.
Â
At the U.S. competition, which will be held at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, there will be eight current Red Raiders competing alongside three post-collegiate Tech athletes.
Â
Two Lady Raiders will be competing in the field: senior Paetyn Revell and junior Zarriea Willis. Revell will go in the triple jump, which she tasted victory in three times during the spring outdoor season, including at the Big 12 Championships. She will jump at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Willis will have until Saturday to prepare. The reigning Big 12 Champion, who also earned First-Team All-America honors in the high jump for both indoor and outdoor, will jump at 2:30 p.m.
Â
There will also be two Raiders jumping on the men's side. The first will be high jumper Trey Culver, who is coming off a senior season during which he was named an All-American for the sixth and seventh times in his illustrious career at Texas Tech. While he is well into his heat, which starts at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, junior Charles Brown will be starting the long jump at 2:25 p.m. Brown scored four points for the Red Raiders at the NCAA Outdoor Championships en route to being named First-Team All-America.
Â
The Red Raiders will also be represented in three events on the track. The first event, the 800m, will include Vincent Crisp and CJ Jones and will be run at 2:40 p.m. on Thursday. At 3:05 p.m., Norman Grimes will run the 400m hurdles.
Â
Meanwhile, in Jamaica, Odaine Lewis will compete in the triple jump and long jump – both events in which he finished top-three in Eugene. First up for the Texas Tech junior will be the triple jump, which will begin at 5:32 p.m. CT on Thursday.  He will then compete in the long jump at 5:10 p.m. CT on Saturday.
