Lady Raider Tennis Earns Seventh Public Recognition Award

Texas Tech awarded for seventh straight APR score
INDIANAPOLIS – For the seventh straight year, the Texas Tech Women's Tennis program was honored with the Public Recognition Award by the NCAA. The award honors programs with Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores in the top 10 percent of their respective sports through the 2016-17 academic year.

The Lady Raiders are one of 137 women's tennis teams in the NCAA and is joined by the women's cross country team as the representatives from Texas Tech.

Texas Tech scored a perfect 1000 in the APR for the seventh consecutive year. The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams nationally. The scores required to be in the top 10 ranged from 984 to a perfect 1,000, with 1,188 teams earning a perfect score.

The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or academic term and provides a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in every sport. All teams must meet an academic threshold of 930 to qualify for the postseason and can face penalties for continued low academic performance.

The most recent APRs are multiyear rates based on scores from the 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 academic years.
