Â
VETERAN LEADERSHIP ON #806D IMPRESSING THROUGH FIVE PRACTICES
Coach Kingsbury began his session with the media Tuesday night praising the work of his defense through the first five practices. The Red Raiders, who bring back 10 of 11 starters from last season, boast six returners who have 10 or more starts in their career, beginning with senior Jah'Shawn Johnson and his 37 in the secondary.
Â
After Johnson, junior Jordyn Brooks boasts 22 starts over two seasons followed by senior Kolin Hill with 20, senior Dakota Allen with 18, junior Broderick Washington Jr. with 14, senior Vaughnte Dorsey with 12 and sophomore DaMarcus Fields with 11.
Â
"I've been just impressed with the leadership on defense," Kingsbury said "That many guys that have played that many meaningful snaps coming back is just a different vibe on that side of the ball. (It's) a different understanding of the defense and different energy, so it's been good to see."
