2018-19 Schedule Released for Lady Raider Tennis

Spring Schedule features nine NCAA Tournament teams
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Women's Tennis Head Coach Todd Petty released the 2018-19 schedule which features nine NCAA Tournament teams from last season.

The Lady Raiders will meet 15 opponents who were ranked in the ITA's 2018 final rankings. Of those 15 teams, seven are ranked inside the Top 25.

Nine of Tech's future opponents made the NCAA Tournament last season, three advanced to the Sweet 16 (South Carolina, Miami, Texas) and one advanced to the Final Four (Georgia Tech).

"We have put together a great schedule to challenge us at the right times of the year," Petty said. "We have some great new partnerships started that should bring some quality teams to Lubbock."

Texas Tech's fall tournament schedule includes trips to the Midland Invitational (Sept. 14-16), the TCU Big Five Challenge (Sept. 21-23), the Vanderbilt Duals (Oct. 26-28) and the UNLV Tournament (Nov. 9-11). The squad will split for the last weekend of fall action at Arizona State and the UNLV tournament.

Several of the Lady Raiders will also compete at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships (Sept. 29-Oct. 7) in California and the ITA Texas Regionals (Oct. 18-22) hosted by Texas A&M. The singles and doubles champions from the ITA Texas Regionals will a spot in the main draw of the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships (Nov. 5-8) in Surprise, Ariz.

The Lady Raiders kick off the 2019 spring schedule at the Kansas Invitational (Jan. 11-12) in Lawrence, Kan.

Tech travels to Dallas, Texas, on Jan. 17 to face SMU for the first dual match of the season.

The spring home slate begins with Wyoming on Jan. 25 and Houston on Jan. 27. The Lady Raiders hit the road for four straight matches starting with Georgia Tech (Jan. 30). Tech then travels to NC State (Feb. 1), South Carolina (Feb. 3) and Miami (Feb. 9) before returning to the McLeod Tennis Center.

The Lady Raiders welcome Tulane and New Mexico on Feb. 15 for a two matches before the squad heads to the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic (Feb. 21-24) in Montgomery, Ala., the following weekend.

Texas Tech returns home to host TCU (March 23) and Rice (March 10) before beginning Big 12 play.

Tech's nine-match Big 12 schedule has home dates with West Virginia (March 15), Iowa State (March 17), Baylor (April 4), Oklahoma (April 12) and Oklahoma State (April 14). The Lady Raiders will face TCU (March 23), Kansas (March 29), Kansas State (March 31) and Texas (April 7) on the road. The Big 12 Championships will be hosted by Kansas from April 19-21.Â

Texas Tech returns only two of the starting lineup from last season. Seniors Felicity Maltby and Lana Rush return to the squad along with junior Reagan Collins. Maltby garnered All-Big 12 First Team doubles honors last season.

The Lady Raiders also welcome five incoming freshmen, Kennedy Bridgforth, Sydney Jones, Nell Miller, Olivia Peet and Denise-Antonela Stoica.
