The women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the young season with a win in their home opener
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders defeated the Wyoming Cowgirls by a score of 4-0 on Saturday at the McLeod Tennis Center.
The Lady Raiders won the doubles points after winning on courts one and two. Felicity Maltby and Nell Miller sealed the doubles point after trailing 2-4 to the Cowgirls. They eventually climbed back to the top, winning the match 6-4 on court one.
On court two, The Lady Raiders gained the edge for Tech after Lana Rush and Kennedy Bridgforth put away the cowgirls with a 6-3 win.
Heading into the singles matches, the Tech started off with a bang, as every singles contestant won their first set by three or more points.
The first to secure a singles point for Tech was Maltby on court one, winning the first set, 6-2, and demolishing her second set at a clip of 6-0.
Right behind her was Bridgforth with the same outcome on court four, 6-2, 6-0.
Clinching the final point for the Tech was freshman Anto Stoica on court three with a final tally of 6-1, 6-3.
