Bloss and Valiev Head to Dallas for Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge

DALLAS, Texas – Texas Tech men's tennis juniors Justin Bloss and Ilgiz Valiev will compete at the Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge in Dallas this weekend, hosted by SMU.
The tournament will be the penultimate event for the Red Raiders during the fall semester, as the calendar year will conclude with a trip to Newport Beach for the ITA National Fall Championships, beginning on Nov. 7th.
Competitors in the field include Also competing will be student-athletes from Arkansas, Baylor, Liberty, Mississippi State, Princeton, Rice, Texas Tech, TCU and Wichita State.
Tech will send a pair of veteran players to this weekend's competition, as Bloss and Valiev return to action less than a week following the ITA Texas Regionals in Waco, where Valiev advanced to the round of 16 in singles play and the quarterfinals in doubles. It was the second-consecutive year Valiev competed in the Regionals round of 16.
The weekend will begin with doubles play at 9 a.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 1. Singles play is slated to begin at approximately 10:30 a.m at the SMU Tennis Complex in Dallas. Singles will be divided into four brackets, each with its' own consolation bracket. Doubles will consist of one elimination bracket with a consolation bracket.
