Red Raider Tennis Continues Play in Dallas

DALLAS, Texas – Texas Tech men's tennis players continued action at the Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge at SMU on Saturday.

Junior Justin Bloss opened his day with a three-set win over Wichita State's Rafael Serra in consolation action. Bloss bounced back from a 3-6 loss in the first set with a 7-6 win in the second to force a third set. In the match-deciding super tiebreaker, Bloss was able to outlast Serra, 14-12, to advance in consolation.

Bloss would come up short in the consolation semis to Wichita State's Zach Grueber, 6-4, 6-3. He will take on Alexander Richards of Wichita State in his final match of the weekend on Sunday.

Yesterday, Red Raider junior Ilgiz Valiev advanced to the Red Flight quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Alex Reco of Arkansas. Valiev would fall, however, to Mississippi State's Florian Broska, 7-6(2), 6-4, in Saturday's quarterfinals.

Sunday's singles competition in Dallas will begin at 10 a.m.
