Texas Tech Lands 19 to Start Early Signing Period
December 18, 2019 | Football
Matt Wells and his staff welcomed 19 new Red Raiders to the football program Wednesday
Â
Tech signed 15 high-school prospects from the state of Texas, all while adding experienced depth throughout its roster via a mixture of three junior college signees and Brandon Bouyer-Randle, a graduate transfer from Michigan State. The class features five signees who will enroll at Tech this January in time for a full slate of spring practices.
"The high school coaches (in Texas) have helped us out a bunch," Wells said. "The relationships that we had previously and kind of reconnecting over the past year is huge for us and our success here at Texas Tech. We'll always recruit Texas high school kids, and we can't say enough about this class."
Â
As part of the class, Tech was able to keep several of the top West Texas prospects at home, landing Midland Lee wide receiver Loic Fouonji, Wellington tight end John Holcomb, Amarillo Tascosa linebacker L.B. Moore and local Frenship quarterback Donovan Smith.
Â
Wells and his staff will look to add to the 2020 class Feb. 5 when high school and junior college prospects are again able to sign with prospective universities.
Â
Below is a full listing of the class along with a bio on each signee.
