
Moretti Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech sophomore Davide Moretti has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District First-Team for his excellence in the classroom and on the court for the Red Raiders.
A Bologna, Italy native, is averaging 10.9 points and 2.5 assists per game in his second season at Texas Tech and leads the team with 47 3-pointers. He hit four 3-pointers and finished with 17 points last Saturday against Baylor and is now 10-for-18 from beyond the arc in the past four games. Moretti, who is currently averaging 12.4 points and 2.4 assists in conference play, recorded a career-high 21 points against Arkansas four weeks ago after going 6-for-9 from the field with three 3-pointers. For the season, he is shooting 48.3 percent from the field which ranks 12th in the Big 12 Conference and is second by going 64-for-70 (91.4 percent) from the free-throw line.
A Human Science major at Texas Tech, Moretti is joined on the CoSIDA District 7 First-Team by Giovanni De Nocolao (UTSA), Oliver Lynch-Daniels (Houston Baptist), Makai Mason (Baylor) and Matt Pile (Nebraska-Omaha).
Moretti is currently shooting 47.7 percent on 3-pointers in conference play and is 47-for-108 (43.5 percent) from beyond the arc this season which is fifth in the Big 12. He has scored in double figures in 11 of 13 Big 12 games this season and now has 411 points through 63 games in his career. A coach's son from Italy, Moretti had a career-high eight assists in last Wednesday's win at Oklahoma State and currently has 67 assists and 31 steals this season.
The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
