The Player's Journal: There's No Place Like Home

Wow! We're four weeks into the season and sitting here writing this player's blog seems like a surreal dream of mine that has just been waiting to happen. Back in Louisiana, it is currently Mardi Gras week, but here in Lubbock, Texas, it's about to be a P-A-R-T-Y week. We finally get to play at our HOME field – Rocky Johnson Field. Believe me, you will surely be missing out if you don't come to watch your Red Raider softball team in action this weekend.Â
So far, this season has been nothing short of amazing. Our first weekend out on the field, we started 5-0 – which some may say might have just been from the excitement of finally not having to play against ourselves or wanting our coaching staff to jump in a pool for us! Moving into week two, and following up the first week's excitements, we came out on fire yet again. Looking around during our game against No. 21 Auburn, it hit me. No, not a ball… It was the pure excitement that our hard work over the past few months was all so worth it. We were exactly where we had been working to be.Â
I knew from the beginning that this team was really something special and this is seriously the type of team that you dream about being a part of! There is no other team I'd rather spend my senior year playing with and now, going into our home slate 13-1, I can't wait for y'all to join in on the fun! See you at the Rock!!
