Red Raiders in Second Place after Day One in Utah

Women's golf is seven shots clear of their place after 36 holes of play
ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Texas Tech women's golf team shot a combined 8-over 584 and finished in second place after two rounds of play at the BYU at Entrada Classic from the Endrada at Snow Canyon course in St. George, Utah.
Tech is seven shots back of tournament-leaders Kent State, who currently sit at 1-over.
The Red Raiders were led on Monday by freshman Anna Dong, who presently sits at 1-over on the tournament and is in a tie for 3rd place on the individual leaderboard. After starting her day at 2-over in the first 27 holes of play, Dong caught fire on her last nine, as she racked up four birdies on her way to a closing-nine tally of 1-under 35.
Tech also benefitted from the play of sophomore Louisa Brunt, who completed her day at 2-over to tie for 7th place overall. Brunt finished both of her rounds at 1-over par.
Sophomore Amy Taylor, who is competing as an individual, ended her first round at even par before continuing her day with a 5-over 41 on the front nine of her second round. However, Taylor would bounce back by shooting an impressive 3-under 33 on the final nine to finish her day at 2-over par. She is currently tied for 7th place along with Brunt.
Sofia Garcia and Cecilie Nielsen finalized play at 5-over to finish day one in a tie for 22nd. Senior Mami Yamamoto went even par in her first round before ultimately finishing the day at 6-over par.
The Red Raiders will conclude the BYU at Entrada Classic with 18 holes on Tuesday.
