Red Raiders Conclude Spring Break in Augusta

Women's golf continues spring slate at Valspar Augusta Invitational
LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf team will compete in the 2019 Valspar Augusta Invitational in Georgia.

The 14th edition of the tournament, hosted annually by the Augusta University women's golf team, is set to kick off on Saturday, March 16th at Forest Hills Golf Club. This will be Tech's first appearance in the event.

The Red Raiders are coming off a second place finish less than a week ago at the BYU Invitational in Utah. Tech was led by sophomore Sofia Garcia, who shot a program record 64 in the final round of play and finished in a tie for second. Her performance was also the lowest round by a NCAA golfer this year.

THE LINEUP
Garcia will once again lead head coach JoJo Robertson's lineup this weekend. She will be joined by Louisa Brunt, Anna Dong, Amy Taylor and Mami Yamamoto. Cecilie Nielsen will also participate as an individual.

THE FIELD
The Red Raiders will begin play this week at No. 41 in the latest Golfstat poll, marking Tech as the second-highest ranked school in the 12-team field, which also includes No. 33 Purdue. Other competitors include host Augusta, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, East Tennessee State, South Florida, Memphis, Toledo, Central Arkansas, Princeton and Daytona State.

Forest Hills Golf Club will play at 6,248 yards in its par 72 layout. It is the home course for Augusta's men's and women's golf programs.

THE FORMAT
The Valspar Augusta Invitational will follow a traditional 54-hole format. Rounds one and two are set to be play on Saturday, while the third and final round will be played on Sunday. Rounds one and two will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, while the third round will begin with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
