LAST TIME OUT:
The Red Raiders are looking to maintain their momentum following two wins over Big 10 opponents on Sunday.
In their early morning bout with Iowa, the Red Raiders continued their string of success in doubles play, as wins on courts one and three propelled them to seizure of the first match point. In singles play, Tech would secure two more points early with straight-set wins by then No. 114 Parker Wynn and No. 115 Tommy Mylnikov. After a surrendered point on court three, Tech captured the match win with a valiant effort from Bjorn Thomson, who fought his way to a straight-set victory after winning both sets in seventh-game tiebreakers. Singles would be played out on courts five and six, as freshman Franco Ribero defeated his opponent to give Tech five overall points.
The Red Raiders would pick up where they left off later on in the evening, as they once again took hold of the match by winning the doubles point. Singles play would again be controlled by Tech, as Thomson once again battled his way to a straight-set victory with another decisive tiebreaker in the second set. After Wynn picked up his second win of the day, sophomore Ilgiz Valiev gave the Red Raiders the match win with a three-set defeat of his opponent. Junior Jackson Cobb, in his first singles action of the year, came out firing, as he defeated his opponent in the anchor position at an impressive 6-0, 6-0 clip. QUICK HITS:
The Red Raiders will look to improve to 3-1 in true road matches on the year with Friday and Sunday's matches. Tech previously won at Tulsa in their second match of the season.
