The Player's Journal: Love & Sacrifice

SWEEEEEEEEEEEP!!! In case you missed it, we swept Baylor this past weekend for the first time in Texas Tech softball HISTORY. Not only did we get our first conference sweep of the season and make history, but we gained some serious momentum heading into our last home conference series of the year against Kansas.
There are so many things to look forward to this weekend. If you have been keeping up with us, you might have noticed that our game times have shifted. We will kick off the series on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. (not to mention it's Bark in the Park – all dogs are welcome), our second game will be Friday at 6:00 p.m. (Strike Out Brain Cancer game and Special Olympics Post-Game Clinic), and we will end the series on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. (Strike Out Breast Cancer game).Â
But most importantly, this Sunday is Easter Sunday! Thankfully, we will have the day to spend with each other and remember what was done for us so long ago. Our team's foundation sits on the love that Jesus has for us and the sacrifice that was made on our behalf. We have centered our culture around these two words and they are truly the answer to all of our team's success – love and sacrifice. By understanding that we are each loved so deeply by God, we are able to show that same love to each other and those around us. And, by understanding the sacrifice that was made for us, we are able to grasp what it really means to sacrifice for those around us. By building this culture within our team, it helped us to gain a greater perspective of what life is all about. It is so much greater than the game, and we will continue to use our platform for God's glory alone!
So, grab your puppy, get a rally towel, wear some pink, and head over to the Rock this weekend. You won't regret it!!
"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."
John 3:17
