Aggie Invitational Canceled Due to Inclement Weather

Texas Tech returns to the links Friday at the El Macero Classic hosted in California

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech's trip to the Aggie Invitational was cut short Sunday as inclement weather once again rained down on Traditions Golf Club, canceling the event due to wet conditions.

The 10th-ranked Red Raiders were one of only a few teams who completed their opening round Saturday in what was supposed to be the first of 36 holes. Rain halted play twice throughout the day as the horn finally sounded late in the afternoon to end play.

Tech finished 4-over as a team as Ivan Ramirez led the way with a 4-under-par 68 round that placed him a tie for second. He combined with Sandy Scott, who signed for a 1-under card of his own, to record 14 of Tech's 21 birdies on the day.

The Red Raiders will have to wait only a few days before their next event as Tech will take part in the El Macero Classic beginning Friday in El Macero, California. It will be Tech's final tune-up prior to the Big 12 Championships, which will be held April 26-28 in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
