The Player's Journal: Worth It
May 03, 2019 | Softball
Written by senior Kenzie Davis
Much like many of my 'mates, softball was my first love. Since I was five years old I dreamed of playing at the next level. I dreamed of being great. I would like to think I have lived out those dreams, but not necessarily in the typical way people see "great" athletes.
As we embark on senior weekend, I can't help but reflect on the past four years of my life and how grateful I am to have been able to live out my dream... or at least a version of it!
If I were to give advice to younger or future collegiate athletes it would be to never take a moment for granted, remember you are playing a game and it can be as fun or as miserable as you personally make it, play your role with pride, and to not miss the little things. These past four years have flown by, but the things I will remember forever are not the wins and losses - it's the people that made it all worth it.
To my fellow seniors, we have been through the lowest of lows this program has had to offer. Because of our vision, drive and leadership, I can truly say that we have left it better than we found it. This program will do great things. We are the builders!
With that being said, we are not done yet! We still have many more games ahead of us. This team is special. Even though I am not in a uniform, I am proud to be a part of this team.Â
