Pair of Red Raider golfers set to play in Scotland and Denmark
LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's golfers Louisa Brunt and Cecilie Nielsen will tee it up this weekend for tournaments in Scotland and Denmark, respectively.
Â
Brunt, who competed in all eight tournaments for the Red Raiders during the spring session, will be playing in the 2019 St Rule Trophy, a 54 hole open amateur stroke play tournament played at historic St Andrews Links in Scotland.
Â
Rounds one and two of the St Rule Trophy will be played on the New Course on Saturday, June 1. The third and final round will be played on the Old Course on June 2.
Â
Brunt posted a scoring average of 74.64 in her second season at Tech, a mark that trailed only All-Big 12 and second team WGCA All-American Sofia Garcia. Her best finish came at the BYU at Entrada Classic, where she fired an even par 54-hole mark of 216 to finish in a tie for 3rd place.
Â
Nielsen, meanwhile, will be competing in the Wiibroe Cup at Helsinger Golf Club in Denmark, as part of the DGU Elite Tour II. The three round event will feature a cut at 12 players from 24 after 36 holes of play.
Â
Nielsen participated in all 12 events during her first year at Tech, finishing in the top-25 in four of her last five events, including a tie for 16th place at the Big 12 Championships.
