Trio of Red Raiders Advance to Quarterfinal Round in Midland

Men's tennis opens 2019-20 campaign with three wins on Friday
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's tennis team opened their 2019-20 season with three wins in Midland at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational on Friday.
After a weather-delayed start to the tournament, Tech picked up a couplet of wins in singles play. Sophomore Franco Ribero defeated Daniel Bushamuka of Utah State to advance to the second round. Ribero would then go on to beat his opponent from Abilene Christian to advance to the quarterfinal round of play.
Freshman Reed Collier, in his first appearance for the Red Raiders, won his first career match in three sets. Collier would then go on to defeat his opponent from UTSA to advance to the third round.
Jackson Cobb and Justin Bloss were defeated in the first round of singles on Friday.
In doubles play, Cobb and Ribero dialed up an 8-6 victory over UTSA to advance to the quarterfinals. All quarterfinal matches are set to be played on Saturday.
