Lady Raiders Win Eight on Second Day of Orlando Open

LUBBOCK, Texas  – The Texas Tech women's  tennis won eight of 10 matches on Saturday on day two of the Orlando Invitational. The day included a ranked doubles win by Nell Miller and Lisa Mays.

Texas Tech took five of seven singles matches, with Margarita Skriabina, Nell Miller, Lisa Mays, Kennedy Bridgforth and Isa Di Laura picking up wins in their matches.

Skriabina picked up a straight-set win over Amber O'Dell of Virginia on Saturday morning. Skriabrina dropped O'Dell, 6-0, 6-2, for her first win of the spring season. Miller also won in straight sets over Chloe Gullickson, 6-1, 7-5, for her first win of the weekend.

Mays tallied her first win of the spring with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Domenika Turkovic on Saturday. Bridgforth was the fifth Lady Raider to win in straight sets with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Sara Culbertson of Auburn.

Di Laura moved to 2-0 on the weekend with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 win over Caraline Scheufler.

The Lady Raiders swept doubles against Auburn. Miller and Mays earned a ranked with a 6-3 victory over No. 59 Georgia Axon and Madeline Meredith. Olivia Peet and Bojana Marinkov knocked off Carolyn Ansari and Taylor Russo, 6-2. Reagan Collins and Bridgforth finished off the sweep with a 6-3 triumph over Selin Ovunc and Yu Chen.

Texas Tech will finish off the weekend tomorrow with doubles against NC State and singles against Rice.
