
Women’s Tennis Opens Spring Season in Orlando

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech women's tennis team opens its spring schedule this weekend in Orlando, Fla., at the Orlando Invitational, which begins on Friday and runs through Sunday.
ABOUT THE EVENT
Hosted by Tech and Kansas, the Orlando Invitational is a hidden dual tournament featuring a number of strong teams from around the country. In a hidden dual event, teams match up like they would in a regular dual match, but only count individual results and team points aren't officially recorded.
The field at the Orlando Invitational includes nine teams, four of which are included in the preseason ITA team rankings. Along with Texas Tech, this year's field includes: No. 8 NC State, No. 13 UCF, No. 19 Kansas, No. 20 Virginia, Rice, Auburn, Iowa State and Missouri.
The tournament field includes 12 ranked singles players, including No. 18 Anna Rogers (NC State) and No. 23 Adriana Reami (NC State). The event also features nine ranked doubles team's, including No. 1 Alana Smith/Anna Rogers (NC State), No. 3 Rebeka Stolmar/Marie Mattel (UCF) and No. 10 Taylor Russo/Selin Ovunc (Auburn).

ABOUT THE LADY RAIDERS
Head coach Todd Petty returns five players from the 2018-19 campaign, while also bringing a handful of talented freshmen into the fold. The Lady Raiders return Kennedy Bridgforth, Nell Miller and Olivia Peet who each saw action in the team's dual season in 2019, helping Tech to its program-best eighth-straight NCAA Tournament bid.
Petty has also recruited the nation's No. 4 recruiting class, led by fall enrollees Margarita Skriabina and Lisa Mays, as well as Bojana Marinkov who just arrived in Lubbock for the spring semester.
