Damaris Linker comes to Texas Tech after a three-season stop at Ole Miss
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball head coach Tony Graystone announced Wednesday, Jan. 22, the hiring of Damaris Linker as the program's director of operations.
Â
"I'm really excited about Damaris joining the Red Raiders," Graystone said. "She has an excellent reputation and from the first time we met, it was clear that she would be a perfect fit with our staff. Damaris has all the traits of a great director of operations and I can't wait to see her influence on our program."
Â
Linker most recently served three seasons as the director of operations at Ole Miss. Before her stop in Mississippi, she spent two seasons in the same role at Ohio University and worked as an assistant coach at Rockford University in 2014.
Â
"I would like to thank Coach Tony Graystone, Sandy Collins and the rest of the administration for the opportunity to join the Texas Tech volleyball program," Linker said. "I am thrilled to join the Texas Tech community and can't wait to join forces with Tony, Morgan and Jon for a fantastic year ahead!"
Â
During her time with the Ole Miss Rebels, Linker was the liaison for the team for multiple departments, such as administration, academics, compliance, marketing, athletics communications and facilities. She was also responsible for all summer camps and clinics put on by the program.
Â
A well-respected member of the volleyball community, Linker was selected as a speaker for the 2019 American Volleyball Coaches Association National Convention – the largest gathering of volleyball coaches in the world for education, networking and social events.
Â
In the summer of 2018, Linker spearheaded the creation of the Rebels' Ace Club, which provides additional resources and extraordinary experiences for the squad's student-athletes. Linker served a vital role in coordination with the Rebels' NIVC Championship run, as Ole Miss hosted each round of the tournament, including the title game in early December. Additionally, she served as the official director for all of the Rebels home pre-conference tournaments.
Â
Prior to joining the Rebels, Linker spent two seasons as director of volleyball operations at Ohio University under head coach Deane Webb.
Â
Linker's responsibilities at Ohio included handling all team travel arrangements, including hotels, transportation, and meals, assisting in planning and execution of camps, planning events for the team, alumni, donors and supporters throughout the season and assisting in other daily operations of the program.
Â
Before her stint with Ohio University, Linker served as an assistant coach at Rockford University in 2014. Linker helped guide the Regents to their most wins in seven seasons and a No. 3 ranking in NCAA Division III in blocks per set.
Â
Linker played volleyball at Quincy University from 2009-12, captaining the Hawks and earning Academic All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors in three of those years. She garnered Northwest Missouri All-Tournament Team honors as Quincy's libero in 2009. In 2011, Linker helped lead the Hawks to a berth in the GLVC Tournament for the first time in eight years. She concluded her collegiate career ranked fifth all-time in Quincy history with 1,094 digs. Linker served as a four-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at Quincy, holding the secretary position for two years.
Â
A native of Lanark, Illinois, Linker graduated magna cum laude from Quincy in 2013 with two bachelor of science degrees -- one in accounting and one in finance. She completed her master of science in recreation and sport sciences in December of 2016 from Ohio University.
