Burnett Selected for McDonald's All American Game

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech will be represent at the McDonald's All American Game for the first time in its program history after it was announced that signee Nimari Burnett has been selected for the prestigious all-star game.
Burnett signed with the Red Raiders on Nov. 14, 2019 along with highly-touted recruits Chibuzo Agbo and Micah Peavy who were also national nominees for the game. The 43rd annual All American Games will be played on April 1 at the Toyota Center in Houston. The final list of 24 for the game was announced on Thursday afternoon on ESPN's The Jump.

Burnett is the highest rated recruit to sign in Texas Tech basketball history with a 5-star ranking by ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports. A Chicago, Illinois native, Burnett is ranked No. 21 nationally in the 2020 signing class by ESPN, No. 22 by Rivals and No. 28 in the 247Sports rankings. He helped lead the USA to its first gold medal last summer in the 2019 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup in Mongolia and was selected to participate in the USA Basketball Junior National Team Minicamp in Colorado Springs.
Burnett attends Prolific Prep in California which is currently ranked No. 5 in the USA TODAY Preseason Super 25. As a junior, he averaged 23.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. Playing in the Nike EYBL he averaged 20.4 points per game and was also selected to participate in the 2019 Nike Skills Academy.Â
The All American Game roster is represented by 14 college programs and four uncommitted players.Â
