
Lady Raiders Wrap up Play at Texas A&M Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raider tennis team wrapped up play at the Texas A&M Fall Invitational on Sunday afternoon, going 2-0 in doubles and also picking up a pair of win in singles on the final day of the tournament.

The Lady Raiders fielded their third different set of doubles teams on the weekend for Sunday's matches. Nell Miller and Kailey Evans knocked off LSU's Anna Loughlan and Eden Richardson, 7-5, as Kaitlin Staines and Olivia Mikkelson defeated Paris Corley and Safiya Carrington of LSU, 6-3.

The two wins closed out a strong weekend in doubles for Texas Tech, who combined to go 6-1 over the three-day tournament.

In singles, freshmen Olivia Mikkelson and Kailey Evans notched impressive wins on Sunday.

Mikkelson finished her first weekend of collegiate competition with a 3-0 record in singles, following a 6-0, 6-1 win over Texas A&M's Elise Robbins on Sunday. Mikkelson also went 2-1 in doubles play in College Station.

Kailey Evans defeated Anna Loughlan, 6-2, 6-2, to finish with a 2-1 singles record on the weekend.

Nell Miller came up short in a three-set match against Texas A&M's Katya Townsend in her final singles match of the tournament. Staines retired in the second set of her match with Paris Corley of LSU.

The Lady Raiders will return to Lubbock next weekend to compete at the Lubbock UTR Event at Burgess-Rushing Tennis Center.
