Tech Off to Stillwater for Tilt with No. 12 Cowgirls

Red Raiders looking for second straight win in Stillwater.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The momentum of Texas Tech's first win of the season will carry the squad to Stillwater for a tough test at No. 12 Oklahoma State. The Red Raiders will need to be on to knock off the Cowgirls for the third season in a row.
"Oklahoma State obviously has a great squad and are extremely well-coached," said head coach Tom Stone. "We look forward to this matchup every year."
Tech's win over Iowa State last week was an exciting one for a myriad of reasons. First and foremost, it counted as the Red Raiders' first tally in the win column in a season of constantly-changing roster availability. Down to just 14 players, the team was solid in the 1-0 winning effort.
Stone laid out his thoughts on the result.
"For the coaching staff, the feeling is relief," he said after the game. "For the players, it's elation. They've worked hard while all these teams are dealing with the COVID crisis. It was a tough week and we lost some people. Despite having more players out of uniform than in uniform, the team came together Thursday with such a great attitude. We had such a short bench and a lot of girls accepted the challenge and gave it their all to get the win."
Second, the win counted as Tech's ninth Senior Night victory in a row. Overall, Stone is 11-3-0 while celebrating his seniors. His squad has sent their seniors out the right way every year since 2012. To keep that streak alive Friday night, a freshman stepped up to net the game-winning goal. The deciding score came off the foot of Gisselle Kozarski in the 42nd minute.
Her effort earned her recognition as the Big 12's Freshman of the Week on Tuesday.
Awaiting Kozarski and her team in Stillwater will be a tough Oklahoma State side. The 12th-ranked Cowgirls, who were undefeated through four games to begin the season, have recently earned a convincing 2-0 win over Texas after dropping a pair of games to TCU and Kansas.
A win over the Cowgirls would mark the second time in program history the Red Raiders have taken three straight from OSU since 1996-98.
"Each game with these guys has its own personality," said Stone. "Although we learn from each match with OSU, it usually comes down to performances on the given day."
First touch in Stillwater will be at 7 p.m. and streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
